Photo retouching
Photo retouching and editing involve a series of manipulations performed on a digital image to visually enhance it, adapt it for a specific purpose, or adjust its technical qualities. Photoshop is the most popular application used for such edits, as demonstrated in the examples below. The slider before-and-afters showcase a sample of my work. This high-end retouching work includes removing blemishes, taming eyebrows, cooling down skin tones, and eliminating flecks of mascara. I prefer a more natural approach to retouching, so I maintained some of her natural facial coloring while toning down the hot reds. Additionally, I subtly altered the color of her eyes for effect. Background retouching has become somewhat easier with AI tools in Photoshop, especially for simple backgrounds. However, AI is not perfect, particularly with complex backgrounds. For this project, I initially used AI to eliminate the background but then had to perform considerable handwork for thorough clean-up. Creative retouching involves constructing a new scene or, as in this case, removing an element to achieve a specific effect. I also enhanced the warmth of the sunset lighting throughout the image. Standard editing is a fundamental process that all photo editors employ for digital images. My workflow begins with balancing lighting and color correction, laying the groundwork to perform unique edits on each image to achieve its full potential.
